In Wales, hilly and rocky country lanes which were absolute bliss to walk on.
Places
I had been looking forward to Hay-on-Wye since I started plotting my route. Unfortunately, I got there fairly late, most bookshops were closed, a storm was coming and I had no place to sleep so I only got to see a little.
During this last section in England and Wales I probably enjoyed nothing as much as the impromptu lunch I had with the 'Young at Heart Club' in Preston-on-Wye during their weekly meeting. I am glad to hear that I am barely above their minimum entry age (which is 15).
A heartfelt thank you also goes to the Bolger family in Passage East who invited in a stranger for tea and toast on this brisk August morning. A mere two months ago they lost three brothers, three sons, at sea. In light of their unimaginable loss, I can only express my sincere condolences and thank them for their warmth and generousity today. In memory of the three brothers, a beautiful EP was produced which can be purchased at the local shop in Passage East. All proceeds will be donated to the Bolger Brothers Tragedy Fund.
There will only be one more post between here and journey's end from a very special place, indeed.
