Paths
Much better these past two days, though I have to say: English rain 0 - Irish rain 1. Much more sustained, with that unique horizontal approach that penetrates all kinds of 'waterproof' materials. Simply amazing.

I decided to take a little detour and pass through the seaside town of Youghal (pronounced "Y'all") at the mouth of the Blackwater River. Why? Because it has a lot going for it that I'd like to share.

The Clockgate Tower, formerly the site of public hangings, is Youghal's most iconic building and is currently undergoing major renovations to house displays of crafts and wares of the area, a recreation of the Tower as a jail and a camera obscura! Grand opening in early 2014. (photos 1 and 3 courtesy of the YSEDG)
As you can see, there's plenty to do here (I haven't even mentioned the watersports). You can even write poems here...
To see the Walls
and Tower of Youghal
a Thousand Miles
means Nothing at all.

I expected last night to be the last one I'd have to spend on some field in a tent. Luckily (!), I knocked on the one farmer's door whose niece happened to have done a 10 day charity walk in Cuba for...Fighting Blindness. Not only did I not have to sleep in a tent (instead, his brother's ensuite guestroom), I was also served the perfect Full Irish that carried me all the way to Youghal.
A big thank you to the Carroll family in Clonea!
